Coming off the heels of a hugely successful 2016 Ninja Challenge season, we’re pleased to announce some changes to the Ninja Challenge series in 2017 with the arrival of the Ninja Challenge League.

As great as our competitions have been, we found there just weren’t enough of them to satisfy our members, so the Ninja Challenge League – or NCL – is intended to give aspiring ninjas more opportunities to test themselves with regular competitions and earn some bragging rights at the same time.

To realise this goal, each month Ninja Academy will announce a set of eight obstacles forming a path through the course that will be the goal of the NCL for that month. Each week on alternating Saturdays and Sundays, competitors will have one run per week to attempt to defeat the path.

Results will be determined on a “furthest the fastest” basis and points will be earned for the number of other competitors you finish ahead of, with bonuses for finishing the path or earning a podium position.

Each week the ladder for the month will be updated to reflect the latest results, so that competitors can track their progress and see if their rank for the month has been surpassed by others in the previous week.

At the end of the month, the BEST result for EACH competitor will be used to determine the final rankings for that month which will be posted in the gym and online.

In addition, each competitor will be placed on an overall ladder based on their BEST THREE RESULTS over the course of the NCL season, which will be updated monthly and used to determine eligibility for the Ninja Challenge Finals 2017 in November.

The Ninja Challenge League runs from January 2017 to October 2017, with the Finals in November.

The NCL sessions will appear on the schedule as a class, which means members can use their credits to secure their spot or pay $10.00 to purchase an additional class. Non-members are welcome to participate for $25.00 per session, which also makes them eligible for a discounted $10.00 entry into the Freestyle session immediately afterwards.

The NCL sessions will run from 12:30pm to 3pm on the first and third Saturdays and the second and fourth Sundays of each month – all competitors will be required to be present at 12:30 exactly to be checked in and have the rules explained by the NCL commissioner. Any latecomers will NOT be allowed to participate and will forfeit their credit – although non-members who are late will still be permitted to attend the Freestyle session afterwards at the discounted rate.

PLEASE NOTE: As with regular classes, all participants MUST BE AT LEAST 16 YEARS OF AGE to be eligible to compete.

If you have any questions about the NCL or how it will work, please email NCL commissioner Mark Ravi at

All the best,
The Ninja Academy Team
